About Gihan Dhanushka

Gihan first discovered the travel industry when he joined Atypique Lanka in 2014, hoping to improve his English as he worked toward a degree in Bio Science. Many Sri Lankan students write and read English proficiently, however, Gihan was seeking more. Convinced that learning English by text books was not going to help with spoken English, he earned very little but enjoyed every minute of his first job learning English and discovering the travel industry. Within months he was convinced to change course and focus on the tourism industry.

He started pursuing a diploma of William Angliss Institute. After completing that degree, Mr. Dhanushka enrolled for the Colombo University Executive Diploma in Marketing. By September 2016, Gihan had two years of experience in the tourism industry and was finishing his marketing diploma. One of the assignments of the diploma program was to present a business plan for a new company. That is how it all started. Upon receiving the diploma from the University, inspired by the assignment and with the enthusiasm of youth, he started the company that had first been presented as a business plan.

Today, as CEO of Traveller's Isle, Gihan is managing the overall operation of a successful tourism agency and writing articles for the Travellers Isle blog. His articles are based on his own experience in the Sri Lankan tourism industry and the input of the Travellers Isle team, local business partners, and guests.
