Tour itinerary - 13 nights / 14 days
Spend your honeymoon exploring Sri Lanka and Maldives. It is the most romantic honeymoon imaginable. The tour starts with a restful stay in Negombo. It then takes you to the cultural triangle, hill country and the southern part of Sri Lanka showcasing the real beauty of the island nation. The last part of the tour is planned in luxurious Maldives.

Day 1 & 2 – Airport / Negombo
It will not be hard to find your driver. Look for the person holding a nameboard that displays your name at the airport arrival section. He will assist you with your luggage and escort you to your first stop, Negombo. The small fishing village facing the lovely Indian Ocean is a tried and tested remedy for jetlag.
The Negombo stay remains unscheduled allowing you to get some rest, but if you like to make some excursions, we can arrange a boat safari in Muturajawela, a fish market visit, or a Colombo city tour.
Travel time from airport to Negombo – about 30 minutes
Day 3 – Negombo / Sigiriya
Once you are ready, your driver will take you to your next destination Sigiriya. If you would like to witness some of our Sri Lankan heritage, visit the Dambulla Cave temple on the way to Sigirya. The beautifully preserved cave temple is an ancient art gallery that displays the teachings of Buddhism.
Your accommodation in Sigiriya is far more exciting than a traditional hotel. It is a treehouse in the middle of the jungle. You will be able to enjoy nature in the comfort of your home away from home.
Travel time from Negombo to Sigiriya – about 4 hours
Day 4 – Sigiriya / Minneriya / Sigiriya
On day 4, you may explore rural Sigiriya. For this village tour we will be taking a bullock cart, which will be an experience in itself. Your lunch will be prepared at a house of a villager. You may either help your hosts with the cooking or enjoy a catamaran ride in their nearby lake while the food is being prepared.
In the evening, your driver will take you to Minneriya national park to show you some of the wildlife in Sri Lanka. During your jeep safari you might see some toque macaques, sambar deer, buffalos and crocodiles, but the real highlight of the tour would be its giant elephants.
Travel time from Sigiriya to Minneriya – about 45 minutes
Day 5 – Sigiriya / Kandy
If you are feeling a bit adventurous, you may hike Pidurangala rock to enjoy the sunrise. The path through irregular steps and steep boulders is challenging, but the view from the top is well worth all your efforts.
After visiting Pidurangala, your driver will take you to your next destination: Kandy. Hit the streets for some shopping. Treat yourself to a silk saree, a batik sarong, or jewelry with Sri Lankan blue sapphires. The evening remains unscheduled allowing you to rest at your cozy hotel with your partner.

Day 6 – Kandy / Ella
It is the tradition in Sri Lanka for newlyweds to visit Temple of the Tooth that houses the Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. If you like to follow this tradition, buy some flowers as offerings and join the locals in their pilgrimage.
After this wonderful spiritual experience, the tour continues to the hill country. You may stop by the picturesque Ramboda waterfall to take in its beauty and have a hot cup of tea at a roadside small tea shop. If you are interested, you may also visit a tea factory on the way to Ella.
Travel time from Kandy to Ella – 4.5 hours
Day 7 – Around Ella
Ella is a gorgeous small village in the hill country. You may enjoy your time simply relaxing with your spouse or discovering the many adventures of Ella which include Little Adam’s Peak, 9 Arch Bridge, Lipton Seat, Ravana waterfall, the scenic Ella train ride, cooking classes - the list goes on and on. Pick the ones that you like, and your driver will be happy to assist you.
Day 8 & 9 – Ella / Galle
You may spend the morning leisurely in your hotel in Ella. When you are ready, your driver will take you to your next destination Galle. On the way to Galle, you may stop by the Buduruwagala temple to see the giant statues of Lord Buddha carved from a living rock.
During your stay in Galle, you may visit the famous Dutch Fort, a turtle hatchery, do some shopping, or visit the nearby Unawatuna beach.
Day 10, 11, 12 & 13 – Galle / Airport / Maldives
It is your last day in Sri Lanka, but the Maldvies stay is yet to begin. Your driver will take you to Colombo airport to catch your flight to Maldives.
Upon landing, you will be greeted by the receptionist and escorted to your Maldives resort. The gorgeous ocean, breathtaking sunsets, and amazing marine life will make you fall in love all over again. We are sure you will enjoy your time in this small piece of paradise.
Travel time from Galle to Colombo airport – about 2.5 hours
Day 14 – Return home
As all good things must come to an end, it is time to say goodbye to Maldives.
If time permits, you may spend the morning leisurely admiring the picturesque beach. The transport team will take you to airport on time to catch your return flight.

4. Are there leopards in Minneriya national park?
There are few leopards in Minneriya national park, but they are very rarely seen in Minneriya. If you would like to see leopards, we can amend the itinerary to include Yala national park. It is the best national park for observing leopards in Sri Lanka.
